New Grabber

abandoned

Description

New Grabber (for lack of imagination) is the start a "grabber" utility, using GTK+ and Python. One day it will be oh-so-sweet, but for the moment it can only load and view (possibly nested) datafiles. THERE ARE NO EDITING FACILITIES YET.

See also: README.txt (2.1k) and ChangeLog (2.4k).

This project is abandoned, for time reasons. Please see QGrabber for something somewhat similar (but not really the same).

Download

Windows

You need an Allegro 4.0.x DLL, which I'll assume you've got.

Download the Python 2.1.3 installer (6.2M), and the corresponding PyGTK installer (2.0M), and install them both. Download and unzip ngrabpy-20020423.zip (56.8k). Double-click on ngrab.py to run it.

If you want to compile the ngrabaux.pyd module, you might like some header files for gtk+/glib/gdk/pygtk (247.0k). I only tested compiling with mingw.

Note that Python 2.0 and below will not work.

Linux

You need an Allegro 4.0.x shared object, which I'll assume you've got. I'll also assume you have Python 2.1 and PyGTK installed already. If not, get them from your distribution, or compile from source (surprisingly easy): Python, PyGTK.

Then just unzip ngrabpy-20020423.zip (56.8k) and run.

Note that Python 2.0 and below will not work.

Also, if you use Python 2.2 you will probably need to recompile the ngrabaux.so module.
